Community rallies in Nashville to raise funds to support education, awareness, advocacy and research for the second-leading cause of cancer deaths.
ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 3, 2016 – The Nashville community supports the fight against colorectal cancer and to prove it, raised more than $200,000 through a fundraiser on Saturday night at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum.
Dollars raised will support Fight Colorectal Cancer’s patient education, research, advocacy and awareness programs.
“Nashville welcomed us with open arms for a second year and we’re grateful for the generous businesses, community leaders and advocates who are committed to eradicating this preventable cancer locally and nationally,” said Anjee Davis, president of Fight Colorectal Cancer. “We couldn’t do it without the leadership here in Nashville!”
Swiftwick CEO Mark Cleveland served as the emcee of the benefit to support his friend, Dr. Mark Green, a survivor and civil servant who was honored during the evening. Steve Green, a stage IV survivor and businessman from Nashville, was also honored. Actor Luke Perry energized an active crowd to bid on live and silent auction items. Country duo 2Steel Girls closed out the evening.

About Fight Colorectal Cancer
Fight Colorectal Cancer is a community of activists who find it unacceptable that colorectal cancer – a preventable disease – is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. In 2005, we were founded by survivors and family members who believed in making a difference. Since then we have grown to be a leading, national nonprofit based in Washington, D.C. known for our advocacy. Our team plays an important role in making medical information practical for survivors and their families and provides trusted resources that guide patients from diagnosis through survivorship. We unite the colorectal cancer community by empowering anyone impacted by this disease to share their story, advocate for better policies and get involved in the research process. We are one million strong and we won’t stop fighting until there’s a cure. Join us at FightCRC.org.
